Thysanoptera of Japan

Acallurothrips nogutii (Kurosawa, 1932)

This species is a rather rare species described from Shizuoka. Since then, it has been recorded in evergreen broad-leaved forests in Tokyo and Kanagawa prefectures, and is rarely found in the galleries on the dead branches drilled by the certain insects, such as cerambycid and scolytid beetles. It closely resembles A. spinurus, but can be distinguished by the IS2 setae (see the comment on A. casuarina) on the tergite VIII reduced. Fungus-feeder.
